Joao Pedro Teixeira
João Pedro Teixeira is a young and experienced accordionist who reveals a vast wealth of creativity through his music. As a virtuoso of his instrument, his ability is always at the service of musical sensitivity and freedom, expressing himself with originality and ease, on both the accordion and the accordion.
A pupil of Hermeto Pascoal, he finds his roots in the concept of “Universal Music”, through which he transitions from the most complex harmonies to the most essential melodies, with the same naturalness.
The result is found in the osmotic variety of compositions and arrangements in different styles, that move between a taste for ethnic tradition to classical style, from jazz to Brazilian choro and tango, all brought together and guided by the motions of heart and soul.
This concert of solo accordion and string quintet reveals a new tragedy of Joao Pedro’s trajectory as a composer and arranger, the repertoire consists of his own music and music composed by Hermeto Pascoal, and Sivuca. The main songs are entitled the Suite for Matilda of Canossa, and Follow the Music of Your Destiny, dedicated to the castle of Canossa and the Italian accordion master Paolo Gandolfi, composed and arranged musicians for the Turin String Quintet.
