The 20 Strings are among the best jazz manouche musicians on the Turin scene. Formed in autumn 2012, they are made up of Mauri Mazzeo (the founder) on lead guitar, and Andrea Garombo and Alberto Palazzi, on double bass and rhythm guitar respectively.
The warm and multicultural sound of Gypsy Jazz unites these musicians, with their varied experience, in a project of colours of the past, but which does not lose sight of the work of contemporary artists. The intention of 20 Strings is to propose a refined, but at the same time, entertaining genre, characterised by the balance between melody and virtuosity, between wild, slow tempos, and danceable tempos, between typical jazz harmonies and harmonic progressions characteristic of gypsy music and the legacy of Django Reinhardt.
Over time, the group has expanded its line-up, adding to the trio collaborations with musicians such as:
Alex Léon (violin), Ilaria Allegri (voice), Simone Arlorio (clarinet), Marco Maturo (guitar of the Cocò Orchestra), Lodovico Berto (vibraphone) Marco Varvello (accordion), Roberto Cannillo (accordion), Antonio Lallai (guitar), Andrea Sicurella (clarinet), Igor Vigna (trumpet), Laurent Courtois (guitar of Nuages de Swing), Elena Urru (voice), Giulia Damico (voice) and many others.
